To use the Keyway tool, start by selecting Plan & Track in the top left of your screen, then select Keyway. Select the starting point of your potential keyway or trench, then continue to click to outline one side of the keyway. (TIP: It's handy to have your geotechnical overlay on to visualize the keyway location.) Once you have determined outlined the keyway, click the checkmark. You then must choose the direction in order to determine the width of the keyway. The direction will be highlighted in blue. Then click OK.

In the new window, specify the Keyway parameters: the depth from the Design or Original surface (whichever is lower) in ft; the width and slopes for each side (where 0:1 sets a vertical wall). Once you click “Get Quantities and Daylight Line”, the quantities to be excavated will be shown.

You will see the volume from the existing grade (from the drone scan) to the Design surface (Contract cut), and the volume from the Design surface to the Keyway bottom (Subexcavation Volume). The sum of the Contract cut and Sub-excavation volumes is the overall dirt quantity to be excavated. You can download the file with the coordinates of the daylight line for the rover by clicking the CSV button.

At any point the keyway parameters can be adjusted. Click 'Recalculate' and enter new values for the depth and slopes on both sides. Close this window by clicking the "X" at the top of the window.
